I had my eye on Mt. Temple for a while and tried to get together several different groups of people for a trip over the last few weeks to no avail (worried that I wouldn't be able to find a group to satisfy the 4 person trail restriction around the Moiraine lake area). In the end Wyatt and I decided to try our luck and find some random people to hike through the restricted area with which worked out perfectly. This lead to be a very long day leaving the city at around 1am or so, doing the scramble and driving back home all on an hour of sleep. The first bit of the trail above Moiraine lake was fairly tame and nice to do before the sun was fully up as the trees could be stiffing in the full summer heat. Once out of the trees the view of the Valley of the Ten Peaks opens up in all its splendour and gives your first view of the ascent route for Temple. Most of the ascent is trudging up scree though the increasingly open views make this well worth while. The view from the summit is far reaching and well worth the effort to get there!
