Cinquefoil Mountain Winter Scramble

Easy Winter Scramble
Saturday, March 12, 2011

Another trip with Anthony leaving the city in the dark hours and getting to the trailhead near sunrise. We were looking for something feasable to try out our snowshoes and Cinquefoil seemed a pretty good bet. The normal scramble route description sounded straighforward and while from the guiding perspective the same could be said in winter waist deep powder the entire route (until the windblown summit ridge) started to get a little aggravating after several hours. With a mere 10 minute walk to go to get to the summit we had to turn back as a pack of mountain goats had barricaded the route and given the icy rocks and gusting wind we were in no condition to provoke the critters! Have to come back in the summer and properly summit!
